Yesterday on January 28, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) was publishing the results of occupation of the extrahotel accommodations (tourist apartments, tourist encampments and rural houses) of December, 2009.
Also, it was making public the provisional results of the whole last year (.xls). To analyze the results of the whole year 2009 we recommend to read the article "The apartments they pay his dependency of the foreign visitor" of the Magazine 80días.
From Rentalia, following the line of our previous publications, we will center on the results of the 4th trimester of 2009 of tourist apartments, comparing it with the same trimester of 2008.
In general, the latter trimester does not turn into an exception and supports the negative line of the whole 2009, with falls in almost all the indicators that the INE publishes:
- The overnight stays in apartments lower 12,7 %. It is a bad result but it seems that the negative tendency little by little is mitigated, since in the first trimester of 2009 it went so far as to produce a fall even of 17 %.
- The number of travelers lowers 6,3 %. The exception is a December, in which the travelers' nº went so far as even to grow with regard to 2008, although of very light form (it does not come to 1 %). It seems that the bridge of December that some of them enjoyed did repuntar this fact.
- As result of the 2 previous information, 6,2 % lowers the average stay.
- The offer of tourist apartments increases 2,2 %, going so far as in December to increase up to 8,5 % the offer of this form of accommodations. Also, it is the 2nd consecutive trimester in which this fact grows.
For 2010 some suspense appears. Nevertheless, from Rentalia we believe that if the apartments offer keeps on increasing (as it has done it in December) a sufficient prices adjustment would take place as to motivate more travelers to be chosen for this type of accommodation. With it the overnight stays will increase and the whole sector will grow.
You can consult the reports of results of the sector prepared by Rentalia from the information of the INE
